Executive Director

Position Overview:   

Graduate Medical Education Transformation (GME/T) is seeking an Executive Director to lead and collaborate with its membership, board of directors, and participating organizations in executing  and leveraging expertise in GME funding, accreditation, and governance at the local, state, and national levels to produce a physician workforce that meets the needs of the nation. 

 

GME/T welcomes as participants all organizations, individuals and associations committed to transforming GME funding, accreditation, and governance so resources are optimized to support a healthy ecosystem that meets the needs of patients and communities.  We envision a physician workforce which is effectively distributed among specialties and geography that is appropriately resourced to optimize access and quality in care.

Position Overview:   

  • FTE:  0.3–0.4 FTE.  

  • The Executive Director will report to the GME/T Board of Directors.

  • This position may be contracted directly through GME/T or executed with one's current employer as a sub-contract for services.

  • Anticipated timeline for hire: June 30, 2025; actual start date to be negotiated with the individual.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizational management:​

    • Collaborate with the Board to refine and implement GMET’s governance structure and organizational infrastructure.

    • Supervise the Project Manager in coordinating subcommittees and workgroups.

  • Oversee GME/T’s compliance with its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.

Membership Development and Engagement:

  • Lead initiatives to engage and maintain active membership.

  • Manage the membership program, including establishing participation criteria, structuring fees, and recruiting new members.

  • Drive fundraising efforts, including securing member contributions, sponsorships, grants, and other funding opportunities.

  • Develop and oversee marketing and public relations strategies, including website updates, social media management, and communication enhancement.

Education and Policy Engagement:

  • Represent GME/T as a spokesperson at relevant activities, conferences, and events.

  • Coordinate technical assistance requests from legislatures, organizations, and individuals.

  • Facilitate and implement the strategic plan in collaboration with Board members.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Nonprofit and/or corporate experience, including board participation. 

  • Relevant experience in policy work or healthcare-related fields.

  • Executive management and strategic leadership capabilities.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and acquire necessary knowledge of Graduate Medical Education payment and policy issues.

  • Preferred experience in health policy, GME, and/ or other healthcare related fields

  • Experience in coalition building, partner engagement, and membership development within organizations.

​​Timeline: 

  • First review of applications: May 15, 2025

  • Screening and interview process:  The Executive Committee will review initial applications by May 28, 2025 and invite the initial round of applicants for interviews in June 2025. 

  • It is anticipated hiring will be completed by June 30, 2025. 

 

SALARY RANGE:

$100,000-$135,000 

​This is a contracted, part-time position that does not include benefits. GMET may contract directly with an individual or with an organization, academic institution, or employer that can support the Executive Director’s participation. If the latter, preference will be given to candidates whose employers are able to invoice GMET for the Executive Director’s time as a professional service and provide in-kind support for this role.​
